There are many things that you should keep in mind when it comes to training your Shepherds to not try to keep the standard weight of the dog and instead try to keep on utilizing their more athletic ability and build. Since Shepherds are built in a sporting breed, they have the athletic capability to be heavier and use heavier weights. Because of this, they should never be used as run dogs. If they were, they could only be utilized around the home and in certain indoor jobs.
In order to keep them from leaning, you will want to use a-stakes. These are like heavy iron wedges with a metal pole through the middle. I highly recommend having several of these available, as well as some sort of water breaking device for the yard. If you can get your Shepherds to work with these without pulling or fighting, you are off to a good start.
The main thing to keep in mind about j-stakes is that they are heavier than the normal concrete style hooks. You will also want to make sure the Shepherds are not using these for other tasks other than walking and going out in the yard. If they are, you will end up paying for the extra weight that you don’t need. You will want to get your Shepherd’s to work on their nails and use their claws instead of trying to break these crates.
A good way to keep your Shepherds from leaning is to get them used to the weight of the j-stake anchors. Your Shepherds will need an anchor to tie their collar to the crate. They will either need a heavy duty I-stone with an arch in the back, or a heavier material chain with an arch in the back. Both of these options are designed for the heavier Shepherds. Make sure you keep one of these heavy duty chains in each crate.
You may also choose to get your Shepherd’s leash adjustable so they can work on their own. There are a number of different ways you can get your Shepherd’s leash adjustable such as the rubber mallet that is available from Landau. This rubber mallet works in conjunction with the j-stake anchors to keep the dogs in place. These are very good at preventing your dogs from leaning forward while the Shepherds are walking.
There are a number of different accessories that you can purchase to help yourself with how to keep a shepherd’s hook from leaning. One of these items is the standard weight plastic wheel that can be easily mounted on the side of the dog’s cage. This accessory is great if you plan on walking them for longer periods of time. Make sure you take your Shepherds in at night when they are most active so they don’t feel like they are being left behind at the same time each night.
If you have a beautiful set of Shepherds and you want to make it even more appealing then you could purchase decorative pieces such as tablecloths and vinyl banners. The plastic wheel can easily be decorated with tablecloth material as well as vinyl banners. These Shepherd hooks are always made to withstand heavy use so you will be able to use them for many years without any damage.
Your dogs will look better if they have a great looking collar, leash, and shepherd hooks. You can find the right combination of accessories that will keep your dogs looking their best. There are a number of different styles and colors that you can choose from. It may be helpful to do some research to find the right style of Shepherds collars and leashes to go along with the j-stake anchors.
