Mom’s have a lot on their plates. Working moms, stay-at-home moms, retired moms, we’re all busy, with minds that never stop thinking of the next thing on our to-do lists. Sure, flowers are great (even better when potted) and pedicures are a treat, but this year give the moms in your life something they will use and love. Whether it’s Mother’s Day, her birthday, or just because, here are some tech gifts for Mom that will keep on giving, all year round.
Tech Gifts for Mom
Smart and Beautiful – Just Like Her
Forget Fitbit and Apple watches, Ringly’s Aries smart bracelets make great tech gifts for mom without looking like tech. The lovely lady in your life can track steps and distance with Aries, and receive alerts from their iPhone or Android devices by connecting with the app. They come in six colors and two sizes, so you’ll be sure to find something that makes her smile. If she’s not a bracelet gal, Ringly also makes, you guessed it, smart rings.
A Getaway From Everyday Life
Do you know a mom who needs an escape? Show me one who doesn’t. When you don’t have the time and money for a grown-up getaway, a book is the next best thing. E-Readers and reading apps are perfect for moms: you never lose your bookmark, you can read in the dark when everyone else is sleeping and you can’t turn your brain off, and some e-Readers are water resistant, like the Kobo Aura H2O, so you can safely read in the bathtub with a glass of wine.
A subscription to Kindle Unlimited is also a great gift idea for moms who need a break, even if it’s only five minutes at a time. It gives you unlimited access to over a million e-Books, thousands of audio books, and current magazines. She wouldn’t even need a Kindle e-Reader to use it, just the Kindle app on her phone.
Every Mom Just Wants a Little Peace and Quiet
This gift idea is geared towards moms with kids still living at home, and it has two steps:
- Buy mom a pair of noise cancelling headphones.
- Take the kids and entertain them outside or in another area of the house.
Bose is renowned for their quality noise cancelling headphones, and they offer both in-ear, like the Bose Quiet Comfort 20, and over-ear, like Bose Quiet Comfort 35. If you are looking for something a little more family budget friendly Sony MDRZX110NC Over Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones. Mom will be able to relax in peace and listen to music, audio-books, or catch up on Netflix while shutting out the rest of the world.
The Gift of Not Worrying About Dinner
It’s hard to go wrong with a Crock-Pot. My mom is always asking for a slow cooker (this might be the year, Mom!) The Crock-Pot Smart Slow Cooker with WeMo takes dinner time to a whole new level. You can use the WeMo app to adjust temperature and cook time from a smartphone, and even set it to warm or turn off if you’re running late. This is great for families on the go and its removable stoneware is dishwasher safe, because life.

Mother’s Little Helper
As a mom, I’m not overly fond of the “let’s give mom a vacuum” line of thought. However, Roomba is the exception. The iRobot Roomba is the perfect gift to give a mother who hates housework. I have an iRobot Roomba 650 and it’s amazing. I have programmed it to vacuum the house every day while I’m at work, and all I have to do is make sure there are no small toys on the floor before I leave the house.
If you want to get really fancy you can buy mom the iRobot Roomba 980. It has a more powerful motor and a more advanced cleaning system than the 650. Also, this baby connects to the iRobot HOME app to schedule cleaning times, maps out your home and shows you the areas that have been cleaned, as well as “dirt events” on which the Roomba focused.
Tech gifts for mom are a great idea, but only if they are something she’ll use and enjoy. And remember, these gift suggestions aren’t about the gifts themselves, but what they represent: a treat, a break, quiet time, peace of mind and a helping hand around the house.
